Assessment.

Our first meeting will be a mutual opportunity to see how comfortable we feel about working together.  Here we learn how appropriate counselling and Life Coaching may be for you, you will have the chance to air your issues and I will offer a flavour of what the counselling will be like.  There is no obligation after this first meeting, and we will only arrange further sessions if both of us feel comfortable to do so.

If we do agree to meet again, we will establish a regular time and day for that appointment.

*If a client persists in cancelling assessments a deposit for further sessions may be required.

Sessions.

Typically we will see each other once a week, although twice weekly is not uncommon, and is a decision we will negotiate and make together if it is appropriate.

Short term counselling is best suited for focused work on one or two issues.

The length of our work together will be negotiated and defined between us.

  • I consider short term work to last from 6 to 12 sessions.

  • Long term work is open ended.  This may seem a daunting idea, but a deep and fulfilling exploration of the many influences on our lives takes time and patience.  Long term counselling is about the forging of a relationship between counsellor and client, a collaborative effort between us toward a greater understanding of your issues.

Only by demonstrating a commitment to share in the highs and lows of the therapeutic relationship, can any real value be found in counselling.

All Sessions are confidential, no information will be shared without your permission unless under exceptional circumstances (as prescribed by law and good ethics).  I am regularly supervised to maintain the standard of my practice; whilst it may be necessary to refer to our work in my supervision, your anonymity will be kept.

Non Payment and Cancellation Policy.

  • Appointments cancelled with at least 24 hours notice will be refunded or set against a future appointment.

  • Those cancelled on the day will be subject to a 100% charge of the full price of the session.

  • If you do not cancel or attend your appointment you will be liable to pay for that session or all money paid will be forfeited.

  • I have a policy that if a client persists in cancelling then a deposit system will be implemented, or I will ask for payment by bank transfer at the beginning of each week. Persistent non payment will result in withdrawal of service.

  • In the unlikely event I am unable to make a session there is, of course, no charge and I will endeavour to schedule an appointment within the same week.

Location.

  • Online I work from a secure, confidential location.
